“O Holy Night” is probably my favorite Christmas Carol- I love the tune, the words, the way the song builds- the soaring high notes at the end. This year, I’ve been caught off guard a few times, as I see the traditional carols in a fresh light. I have sung these songs so many times…I often go into “auto pilot” mode when I sing them, and don’t really think about the words I am singing. But, as I have slowed down this season a few times and really thought about some of their words- wow, they are written so poetically and wow, their messages resonate deep. Here are a few of my favorite lines from “O Holy Night”:

Tomorrow morning as you unwrap presents, celebrate His Holy Presence-
how precious to live in a time after Jesus’ birth- don’t miss Him….
seek Him, for He is near- so very close; with arms wide open, everlasting arms, supernatural arms, God arms that formed you, that sustain you, that long to uphold you and for you to be who He created you to be;
His son, His daughter….HIS.
He came for you…run to greet Him this morn.
