I was really challenged by this movie. What am I doing to help preserve life and extend grace and forgiveness to those who need healing? I feel like adoption is a tangible way we are responding to God’s Word, His leading, and in honoring life. But, I feel like there is much more we can do. So, here is a small step I am taking; and a fun way to encourage you to support this movie.
I am going to run my first online contest! If you go and attend “October Baby” opening weekend (March 23-25th) and bring at least one other person with you, you will be eligible for this contest. Send me a photo (via facebook or email) that shows you and your friend(s) at the theater with some proof that you went to the movie (movie stub, in front of the movie poster, etc.). The person who brings the most friends to the movie, opening weekend, will win a $15 gift card, and maybe another surprise as well:), as our way of saying “Thank You” for supporting this film. Contest will end on March 27th, so send your picture before then. If there is a tie we have a tiebreaker question lined up.
In closing, here is one more thing you need to see. Below is an interview with the actor who plays Hannah’s birthmother in the movie. This video is a bit lengthy but please watch it all. Thanks in advance for supporting this movie in whatever was you can (you can “like” it on facebook as well).
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.
