May today be filled with gratitude, awe, and reference for Christ who gave all to pay the price for our sins- that we could be reconciled to the Father; if we choose.
Today I read Revelation 20 to the kids- the part where Satan (the dragon, the serpent of old) will be finally thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10). Yahoo! What a great moment that will be. And in verse 14, when death and Hades are throw in to the lake of fire too. No more death! But, at the end of chapter 20 it says in verse 15 “And if anyone’s name was not found in the book of life he was thrown into the lake of fire.” How absolutely sobering.
Darling daughter got teary as she asked, “Will ________ be thrown into the lake of fire?” (insert name of one of her dear friend’s that does not know Jesus as Savior). We were so sad about this possibility- but hoping it gives us fresh resolve to pray for those who don’t know Him as Savior (or we are unsure that they do) and not be afraid to talk to them about Him.
God has given us free will; the ability to choose. Real love isn’t forced. But real love is persistent, and unconditional; sacrificing all. Jesus’ love is like that. It is hard for me to understand that people will be eternal separated from God; but I believe it IS truth (because He says it is and He is completely trustworthy). Sure, I don’t understand it all, but I know He is Holy, Just, Loving and True and has made us all.
He desires that none should perish, but for ALL to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Please don’t wait another day to put your faith in Jesus. Not Jesus plus new age philosophies. But the one true God; Jesus of the Bible. He is here- and oh how He loves you. His arms are stretched wide.
Look at the cross; really stop and look. He has open arms, waiting for you to come. He knows you and all you are going through and He is near, oh so near. Call to Him, tell Him all about your doubts, fears, your questions, your anger. He longs for you.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he was not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18).
Thank You for the cross. Forgive me for taking it and You for granted.
I love you.
