*Disclaimer– we have not been chosen by a birthmother yet; but this is what I want to say to
her when the time comes.
Dear Birtmother,
I so wish we could go to my favorite tea shop and sit down together some afternoon. I would love to meet you.
To see you.
To memorize your face so that I can tell the child you are carrying all about it someday.
To hear your voice.
To hear the way you talk, the voice God gave you- telling your story as I absorb every detail.
To look into your eyes.
To see their color, and beyond, to your heart- to communicate how deeply appreciative I am that you have chosen to give this baby life.
And chosen to place this baby with a family.
Our family; who have been waiting, and praying, and longing, and believing and loving you and this one; long.
To reassure you that we will honor you, and your story, and your courage- and this precious life with God’s strength and grace.
I would love to spend time with you.
To sit across from you.
Getting to know you and you getting to know us.
To comfort you in this difficult time.
To offer hope, truth, love….real.
To respect your space, but to connect-
and let that carry us through the days ahead.
Words would not be able to adequately express my gratitude to you,
for choosing life,
and for choosing us.
For trusting us to raise your young.
For this gift; priceless.
Our paths may not cross soon, or again, if that is your wish.
But I want you to know that you will hold a special place in our hearts, our lives.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
Katie
