You drive, you discipline, you fail, you love so deep it hurts, you teach, you organize, you motivate, you lose your temper, you grow, you laugh, you cry, you give.
You are a mother.
What a blessing.
What a gift.
What a deliciously difficult endeavor.
I am blessed with a wonderful mother. She is patient, gracious, and lovely-inside and out.
Sometimes as a Mom you catch a glimpse of sheer delight; trumping duty.
When the hard work pays off.
When it clicks.
When the kids say just the right thing.
When you have a breakthrough.
These moments make it all worth it.
Here’s to slowing down and seeing the blessing, not the lack.
To be content to be interrupted.
To be kind when you would rather tune out.
To stay when you’re tempted to run.
To play instead of having the pristine home.
To stop and give attention when they say, “Look at this Mom!”
To patiently answer the endless “Why’s?”
Here’s to knowing the condition of our flock (or nest).
To giving them roots, so they have the courage to spread their wings.
Because one day they will fly, much sooner than we are ready for.
Here’s to a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Laying down expectations
and just enjoying the day.
Taking it in
one moment at a time.
And being the best Mom we can tomorrow,
not taking the day off.
But living it full.
Living the gift.
Being the gift.
And realizing that Jesus has the grace we need to thrive, not just survive this journey.
“Cuz He knew you were just what I needed to make me more like Christ.
To love with abandon, to lay down my life, pressing on towards the prize.”
-“Castles & Rockets”
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
