Welcome to Day #28 in the Isaiah 40 Series!
Isaiah 40:28 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth- does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable.”
This is one of the verses that I have really been wanting to get to- since I firmly believe that the truth of Isaiah 40:28 is under fiery trial in our times. It is timely, but also a bit intimidating, as I can imagine what some of the responses to this might be.
The Everlasting God.
The LORD.
The Creator of the ends of the earth.
These 3 statements alone are offensive to many. Eternity, and living in light of, is not a real popular subject- especially when you bring the reality of heaven and hell into the discussion. The LORD, and submitting to His right to rule over our daily lives, sends many on the run. And lastly, God being Creator, is often laughed at and viewed as an archaic view of the unenlightened.
And yet, I implore you, look at this verse again.

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
Isaiah 48:12-13 “Listen to Me, O Jacob, even Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last. Surely My hand founded the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand together.”
Genesis 1:1-2 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.”
Genesis 1:26-27 “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness… and God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
He is the Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
Not only that, but He does not become weary or tired.
Ah, doesn’t that make you take a deep breath; that He does not become weary or tired? That fact, in and of itself, should speak straight to our weary and tired hearts. I am so thankful that my LORD does not doze off, wear out, or burn out.
Then comes the part about His understanding being inscrutable. My parents and sisters have fabulous vocabularies, but alas, I, the English minor, needed to look up what inscrutable actually means. The best way I can explain this is with another verse from Isaiah, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). His understanding is beyond ours. So, we should rest in the fact that the God, who made all things, us included; does not fall asleep on the job. He is not taken off guard by what is happening in the world and in our lives.
Isaiah 44:24 “Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, ‘I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, stretching our the heavens by Myself, and spreading out the earth all alone.”
Isaiah 44:2 “Thus says the LORD who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you, ‘Do not fear, O Jacob My servant; and you Jeshurun whom I have chosen.”
Isaiah 43:1 “But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel, ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!'”
Psalm 47:7-9 “For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a skillful psalm. God reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy throne. The princes of the people have assembled themselves as the people of God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly exalted.”
Isaiah 43:15 “I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.”
Deep Breaths:
1. Memorize Isaiah 40:28
2. God being your Creator is a fundamental belief. In this world bombarded with evolutionary theory and many other theories, it is imperative that you know what the Bible says and stand upon the truth.
3. How does God being the Creator bring you comfort today?
