He is.
Mighty
He can.
Might He?
If He has said it He will do it.
The other day, as I read about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (see Daniel 3), the depth of their faith and confidence in God’s Sovereignty struck me afresh, ”If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up” (Daniel 3:17-18).
They trusted the Mighty One and His ability to do anything- to do the impossible. Whether or not He would (in this particular instance) they weren’t sure; He might or He might not. But the point was that He was able to do it. Whether or not He chose to deliver them they would only bow and worship Him, the Almighty; the One True God. The One who could rescue them from their firey circumstances. The heat was turned up, set to blazing, set to destroy them. If God didn’t they still knew who He was and that they were all His, in life and in death.
Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego stood for God and refused to bow and worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s image of gold. They weren’t people-pleasers they were God-pleasers, and they weren’t budging on their stance or their belief in the One who led their ancestors out of bondage and through the desert…with cloud by day and with fire by night.
This consuming fire.
This Mighty One was with them.
And He is with you.
Able to save
Rose from grave
knows your grave circumstances
knows your deepest joys
and your barren places
knows how to lead you out
but also how to be with you in the midst
as He leads you through
He is mighty
for the times we ask, “Will He do this or will He not?”
We can rest in the fact that He is who He says He is.
Capable.
Sufficient.
Loving.
All-knowing.
Able to hold you together
when you fear you might fall apart.
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).
Whatever you are facing today, He is with you. Mighty.

Love this!!! “Even if He doesn’t..” I think that is such an important part of the verse/ story– we’ve had several of those moments in the last year and HE was still there, mightily guiding our steps and making our path not easy, but straight!
