After a two week break I am happy to be back with the Five Minute Friday crowd. It’s really a party. Join us? It’d be more fun with you there. Write for five minutes on the prompt for the week, then post it and link it up over at Lisa-Jo’s as we encourage each other and glean from one another too.
Ready? Go!

his face next to mine assuring me that he adores me
freedom from these rusty chains that hold me back too often
the arrival of new life springing from barren ground
the relaxing song he composed on the keys, called “Sunset”
his car pulling into the garage a little after five o’clock
excited squeals coming from the brood as they anticipate the arrival
a perfectly balanced glass of southern sweet tea- with a lemon
a juicy sweet strawberry that alerts taste buds of coming summer
a fresh-from-the-oven piece of homemade bread with quality conversation melted on top
a cozy comfy blanket when there’s a chill in the air
the all-encompassing hug of an almost six year old cuddler
warm spring winds that remind me of His breath within and around
makes me feel accepted and secure

Tried something new tonight for Five Minute Friday and, confession, it took longer than 5 minutes.
Thanks to Jennifer Dukes Lee for reminding me about the “Color My World” poems. You can create your own here, so fun.

Randomly hitting up some of the FMF blogs. This is beautiful. I am a Southern transplant to the very, very northern US and talking about sweet tea, porches, strawberries. It’s home.
Katie Reid says
Thanks Kirsten- I live in the Midwest but have southern relatives and friends down there. Nothing like their sweet tea!:)
