Almost a year ago I met with an editor, to tell her about my book.
It’s about control.
She met me with a question that changed everything.
Is that what you usually write about?
******
I had written some posts about control but it wasn’t my main message.
We talked for a few more minutes and, through her questions and His leading, it became clear…
The idea for the Tightly Wound Woman emerged.
But really this tightly wound woman had been there along. It is who I am, how I am wired, and provides continual motivation for growth.
My prayer is that through this message others will be set free through Jesus.
God’s Message,
the God who created the cosmos, stretched out the skies,
laid out the earth and all that grows from it,
Who breathes life into earth’s people,
makes them alive with his own life:
‘I am God. I have called you to live right and well.
I have taken responsibility for you, kept you safe.
I have set you among my people to bind them to me,
and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations,
To make a start at bringing people into the open, into light:
opening blind eyes,
releasing prisoners from dungeons,
emptying the dark prisons.’–Isaiah 42:5-9, The Message
What do I speak about?
- I talk about being tightly wound on the inside but also tightly wound to His Side.
- I exhort others to let go and trust the One who holds us together.
- I encourage others to find grace in the unraveling of life by drawing closer to Jesus.
I speak about this because I have lived it, and I am living it.
It is our prayer that Jesus will “bind up the brokenhearted and release the prisoner from darkness” through His Truth, faithfulness and help (see Isaiah 61:1).
Do you need to break free from the chains of control, perfectionism, over-achieving and fear? (<====Click to Tweet)
Me too.
Let’s go on this journey together and learn from Jesus; in His Name every chain can be broken! Amen.

What message is your life broadcasting?
- What message has God embedded into the fiber of your being?
- What trials have you experienced? How have they made you stronger, more passionate and able to help others?
- What are you known for? How can you best make Him Known?
More than words, your life is speaking loud to those around you.
More than intentions, your actions are telling others what is important to you.
More than your hangups, mess-ups and hiccups, His grace and love define you.
Tell us about the message God has given you in the comments. Let’s broadcast His love to a hurting world!
