Welcome to Day #17 of the Grounded Series! 🙂
Hey Mom,
On a regular basis, I am either: baking, cleaning, texting friends, (or cousins), napping, eating, playing, reading, listening to my iPod, watching shows, arguing with brothers, fixing up cute outfits for my sister, doing my homework, or wondering when I will get my allowance so I can try to buy those awesome toys or clothes that my friends or someone I know has. I struggle with comparison (or jealousy), a LOT.
Observation Time!!! YAY!!!! 😀
Romans 7:8 “But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. Apart from the law, sin lies dead.”
Okie dokie! “But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment.” That means that sin has wiggled it’s way through the commandment: “Thou shall not covet” (covet also means to want something). So we need to fight the temptation to want her stuff.
“……produced in me all kinds of covetousness.” Covetousness. What does that mean?
Covetousness
A feeling of grudging admiration and desire to have something that is possessed by another.
I found this at: https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/covetousness
Wow. That’s a strong definition there. A feeling of grudging admiration. That means you really, really want something.
“……Apart from the law, sin is dead.”
I know what you’re thinking, “Sin is dead. Sweet!”
Wait. Stop.
Sin is dead if you become a follower of Jesus and try to fight it. Jesus is the only One who can help you fight the temptation to sin—or in this case, want what she wants.
God wants us to be content and be happy with what He has given us. Pray and God will answer.
Stay Grounded in Love,
~Brooklyn <3 😀 😮 😉
