Unwinding in God’s Presence Devotional
Are you tied up in knots, worried about everything?
I only know one place to go when I get that wound up. Relief is waiting in the Presence of God. The problem, once there, I can’t seem to unwind enough to fully engage. Screaming thoughts drown out the Voice that calms my weary soul.
How do I truly unwind and really relax?
It seems counter-intuitive, but I run; I run until I reach the place that sets my heart at ease. I press in until I’m satisfied. It’s there that I find myself easing into His Presence. In the pursuit, the pantings of my heart become the worship of my soul. It’s there I find safety. Finally able to relax and trust, He quiets my heart. He’s been waiting there for me.
This I declare about the LORD:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” -Psalm 91:2 (NLT)
I run into his Presence. He alone unravels me. Yet, once again, I get there and can’t let loose. I want…no, I need to get fully into the Presence…to let go and let Him have His way.
My prayer, “Lord, show me how to quickly grasp the deeper part of You.”
Recently, He answered. In a vision, He showed me the unwinding from His point of view.
I come to Him with my hands tied behind my back. As I begin to declare His goodness, He unravels me. No longer bound, I am free. Grabbing hold of the strings of my heart, I lasso the thoughts and worries swirling around me. Now, it’s true, I am an Oklahoma girl, but it wasn’t until moving to Colorado that I went to my first rodeo. Watching real-live cowboys in action is a sight to see as they hurl their ropes with precision and catch their prize.
I am sprinting toward the only goal that counts: to cross the line, to win the prize, and to hear God’s call to resurrection life found exclusively in Jesus the Anointed. -Philippians 3:14 (The Voice)
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” -Philippians 4:3 (NLT)
You see, if we’ll let Him, God can teach us how to take down every stronghold that threatens our intimacy with Him. We, too, can catch our prize.
We’re demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One. -2 Corinthians 10:5 (The Voice)
Making declarations of His goodness easily unties the knots and loosens the grip of the world. Share on XWith God on our side, we become excellent ropers, using the very ties that bound us to lasso in our freedom.
Start by declaring His goodness, take action against distraction, and rest in his freedom.
This lyrics of this old song help us see how much God loves us and the lengths he’ll go to bring us to our prize-winning destiny. He’d lasso the moon the for us…
“If I were a carpenter
I’d build a world of love
Where we would always be together
If I were the captain of a ship of happiness
I’d sail away with you forever
Close your eyes
And know you are safe with Me
If I had a lariat made of dreams come true
I would lasso the moon for you.”
-Lasso the Moon by Art Garfunkel
We are safe in his Presence. He longs for us to linger there.
Close your eyes, run into his Presence and find him waiting there for you.
